Angel Wings Foundation

My name is Noel and I have epilepsy. Since 1992 I’ve had seizures nearly every day. I’ve tried just about every therapy available including brain surgery but the seizures persist.

In spite of the challenges I want to do things other adults do. I want to work, be involved in my community and live independently.

My name is Derrick and I have epilepsy. Diagnosed at the age of 3, epilepsy has affected me my entire life. From restricting access(I can’t drive a car), to determining where I’d attended college, to having an effect on my career, the results of my condition are evident. The effects of surgeries, such as impaired processing speed and poor memory have driven me away from my desired career of math teacher and left me effectively unemployed. I am dependent upon my mother and a service dog, Patrick, for support. An organization like Angel Wings would allow me more independence and certainly improve my life and my confidence.

The Angel Wings Foundation was established with the sole purpose of enhancing the lives of those affected by epilepsy and allow them to reach their full potential by living independently in the community.

The mission of Angel Wings is to seek donors, grants from private and public sources and fundraise to create housing that will service young adults with epilepsy. All monies raised will be used to create a home, a warm and loving home where like abled people with epilepsy can be happy and safe. A place where a family can rest assured knowing that their family member is cared for – well beyond their passing. One of the biggest issues a parent of a child with special needs faces is “what will happen when I die, who will care for her?”

A new housing model must be created, state funding for residential services in Illinois is nearly non-existent. The vision for the Angel Wings Home is to provide an exceptional quality of life for its residents.

Our “Brick by Brick” campaign begins now. We are asking you for a charitable donation so that we can build a home that is accessible to our residents with epilepsy.
